Tuesday, Feb. 1

*The Porter County Board of Commissioners meets at 10 a.m. in the commissioners chambers of the county administration center, 155 Indiana Ave., Valparaiso. Dawn Pelc, executive director of the Porter County Substance Abuse Council, will present a comprehensive community plan.

*The Chesterton Park Board meets at 6 p.m. at Town Hall, 726 Broadway, Chesterton. The agenda includes a report on plans for Coffee Creek Park.

*The Duneland Photography Club meets at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month. This month’s meeting, featuring guest speaker Barry Butler, takes place via Zoom. Butler is a well-known Chicago-based photographer. Thursday, Feb. 3

*From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Bethlehem Lutheran Quilting Group meets at the church, at 2050 County Road 1100 North, making quilts to raise funds for the church’s emergency financial aid for families in distress and for Lutheran World Relief. For more information, call Marilynne Dilley at (219) 299-2313.

*A meeting takes place at 6 p.m. at Burns Harbor Town Hall, 1240 North Boo Road, Burns Harbor, for Porter County Democratic Party Chair Drew Wenger to fill the vacancy of a Democratic at-large seat on the Town Council. Eric Hull recently submitted a letter of resignation because he is moving to Arizona.

Friday, Feb. 4

*An all you can eat fish fry takes place from 5-7 p.m. at American Legion Post # 21, 107 N. Flynn Road/U.S. 421, Westville. Dinners include hand-breaded pollock, chicken strips, French fries, baked potato, creamy coleslaw, salad, roll and dessert. Adults are $14; seniors 60 and up and veterans are $10; kids 12 and under are $5; and preschoolers are free. Carry-outs are available. Saturday, Feb. 5

*At 2 p.m., stop by the auditorium at the Indiana Dunes State Park Nature Center for a program on “Sensational Spiders,” a show and tell about how spiders adapt and survive the seasons. The park is located at 1600 N. County Road 25 East, Chesterton.

Sunday, Feb. 6

*Feeling crafty? From 1-3 p.m., stop by the Nature Center Auditorium at Indiana Dunes State Park for “Cocoa and Crafts” to make a fun craft from items in nature. The park is located at 1600 N. County Road 25 East, Chesterton.

Wednesday, Feb. 9

*For a special Valentine’s Day edition, people can listen to and share inspiring stores about the presence of angels in our everyday lives. Ange Benz will connect attendants with their angels at 2 p.m. at the Michigan City Public Library, 100 E. Fourth St., Michigan City.

Saturday, Feb. 12

*The Duneland Weavers Guild meets from 10 a.m. to noon at Three Moons Fiberworks, 402 Broadway, Chesterton. The meeting will be presented by members Kathy O’Neal and Margaret Jones, on helpful hints they’ve gleaned over the combined 70-plus years they have been weaving.

*A partner yoga class takes place from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Duneland Family YMCA, 215 Roosevelt St., Chesterton. The class is $10 per pair; register at www.dunelandymca.ortg.
