Chubb replaces Chubb in Westchester Township

Calvin Chubb will be succeeding his mother, Robin Chubb on the Westchester Township Advisory Board.

Porter County Democratic Party Chairman Don Craft said that Calvin Chubb was the only person to apply for the job.

The appointment was made official at an April 27 meeting of Democratic party caucus members from Westchester Township.

Robin Chubb had been on the Westchester Township Advisory Board since 1999 and was in the midst of serving her sixth term. She resigned because she is moving out of the area.

Meanwhile, Craft said he is taking applications for those interested in filling the vacancies for the Town of Burns Harbor clerk-treasurer and on Town Council.

Longtime Burns Harbor Clerk-Treasurer Jane Jordan and her husband, Kurt Jordan, who was elected to the council last November, suddenly resigned on May 8.

The couple cited ongoing management conflicts concerning the town’s Volunteer Fire Department Corporation, which oversees the firefighters for the Burns Harbor Fire Department.

Because Burns Harbor is only one precinct, Craft said he is empowered as party chairman to make the appointments.

Craft said that he will consult with Burns Harbor town officials.

If Craft doesn’t make the appointments, then the Burns Harbor Town Council would fill the positions.
