CHS Tennis falls 4 1

The Chesterton girls tennis team opened its dual meet season with a 4-1 loss to Plymouth on Thursday.

The lone winner for the Trojans was Peyton Martinson at No. 1 singles 2-6, 7-5, 10-5 over Kyle Kechaman.

Chesterton returns to the court on Saturday when they travel to the East Noble Invitational.

Singles -- 1. Peyton Martinson def. Kyla Kechaman 2-6, 7-5, (10-5); 2. Miranda German (P) def. Milena Veltri 6-2, 6-4; 3. Aubrey Vervyckt (P) def. Leah Rochford 6-2, 6-1.

Doubles -- 1. Marty Beaty/Audie Plothow (P) def. Hailee Ellenwood/Olivia Vesling 6-0, 6-2; 2. Alaina Clady/Sydni Weir (P) def. Libby Gibson/Rachel Byrnside 6-2, 6-4.

Record: Chesterton 0-1.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 10, Plymouth 4

The Chesterton junior varsity opened with a 10-4 victory over Plymouth.

Freshman Emily Haiduc was the lone Trojan winner in singles with an 8-4 victory at No. 3.

In doubles, the Trojans got victories from Christian Charlson-Maria Schmahl (No. 1), Lauren Sensibaugh-Kassidy Crowell (No. 4), Lindsey Tucker-Blaire Smith (No. 5), Kayla Whelan-Kylie Finley (No. 6).

Playback winner for Chesterton included the teams of Charlson-Schmahl, Rina Hector-Haiduc, Lilly Putchaven-Sydney Balas, Greta Schmahl-Jenna Aguilar and Sophia Winski-Sensibaugh.
