The fourth annual Prairie Magic Music Festival at Sunset Hill Farm Park is set for Saturday, Aug. 17. Rock legends Los Lobos are coming all the way from Los Angeles to perform as headliners at the music festival.

Prairie Magic Musical Festival is a celebration of rock, Americana and blues music. There will be food vendors, a beer garden, free water on-site all day and children’s activities.

The gate opens at 12 p.m. and the music begins at 1 p.m. Sunset Hill Farm Park is at the intersection of Hwy. 6 and Meridian Road, in Liberty Township.

Also part of the festival lineup are Robbie Fulks, Bottle Rockets and Big Road.

The official music set times are: Big Road from 1 to 1:45 p.m.; Robbie Fulks from 2 to 3:15 p.m.; Bottle Rockets from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m.; and Los Lobos from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Originally from LA, Los Lobos’ has been creating a rock-and-roll, Tex-Mex blend for more than 40 years. The three-time Grammy award winning group has also received a Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

Food vendors available at the festival will include Leroy’s Hot Stuff, Scooter’s BBQ, Ben’s Soft Pretzels, and Valpo Velvet ice cream. Because festival attendees can enjoy the food vendors and free water all day, no outside food or beverages are allowed.

Park visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and sun shades to enjoy this family friendly event at the outdoor amphitheater at Sunset Hill Farm Park. Wagon rides will be available to take attendees from the parking area to the amphitheater.

Porter County Parks & Recreation will also open up the Sunset Hill Farm Campground for camping the night of the festival. Families can rent space in the open field portion of the campground for just $5. To rent a campground space, contact Porter County Parks & Recreation at 219-465-3586.
