Two semi-tractor
trailers were involved in an accident early this morning which strewed
debris across two lanes of I-94 near Chesterton, the Indiana State Police
said.
According to
police, at 2:15 a.m. trucker Narinder M. Singh, 55, of Brampton, Ontario,
was westbound on I-94 when, just east of Chesterton, he sideswiped a second
semi parked on the outer shoulder.
The second semi’s
driver, Dhimitraq Mangoleci, 30 of Saint Clair Shores, Mich., had stopped to
check something on his trailer, police said.
The impact caused
both trailers to rip open, police said, with “empty shampoo bottles and
cardboard box debris scattered across the right and middle lanes westbound.”
Both lanes were
closed until approximately 4:45 a.m. for clean-up and removal.
Neither driver was
injured, police said.
