The body of a
39-year-old Steger, Ill., man has been recovered after he went missing in
Cedar Lake on Friday afternoon, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources
DNR has not
identified the victim.
According to DNR,
at 4 p.m. Friday first-responders were dispatched to Cedar Lake after the
man reportedly jumped from a boat and failed to surface.

searches. At 8:13 p.m. a Cedar Lake Fire Department boat conducting a sonar
search found the victim’s body on a sonar image. A Cedar Lake Fire
Department diver then entered the water and recovered the body in
approximately eight feet of water.
Conservation Officers are investigating the incident and an autopsy will be
held to determine the cause of death.
