Coroner Man's body found in Lake Michigan near Port of Indiana

The Porter County Coroner’s Office is working to identify a body found by a fisherman on Friday, May 31, in Lake Michigan near the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor.

The body was recovered from the lake at 8:51 p.m. by a U.S. Coast Guard crew.

The body is that of a white male, the Coroner’s Office said.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause and manner of death.

Assisting the Coroner’s Office is the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Responding to the scene were the Portage Fire Department and Ogden Dunes Police Department.
