A motorist sustained minor injuries this morning in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Ind. 149 and U.S. Highway 12, the Burns Harbor Fire Department is reporting.

Fire Chief Bill Arney told the Chesterton Tribune today that firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 6:46 a.m., after a driver northbound on Ind. 149 attempted to turn left on U.S. 12 and was T-boned by a second vehicle.

The motorist had to be extricated by firefighters, Arney said, and was then transported to Porter Regional Hospital with “minor injuries.”

The other driver escaped injury, Arney added.

The BHFD cleared the scene at 7:27 a.m.
