James Paul "Happy"
Gayheart, 54, passed away peacefully after a courageous and short battle
with cancer on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at the University of Chicago
Medical Center, with his loving family by his side.
Services to
celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at 11:00 a.m.,
at the Full Gospel Church with Rev. Dennis Pickens officiating. Private
family burial will take place after services in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
A viewing will be held on Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Root Funeral
Home and on Tuesday, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., at the church.
Jim was born May
26, 1964, in Michigan City, to Jimmy A. and Alice Faye (West) Gayheart, who
are surviving in Michigan City.
On September 16,
2000, in Michigan City he married the love of his life, Jane Ranegar
Gayheart, who is surviving in Michigan City.
Also surviving is
one daughter, Janel (David) Teeter of Burns Harbor; two grandsons, Tristan
and Rylan; one sister, Trina (Todd) Walsworth of Michigan City, his special
"MaMaw" Vernice West, of Michigan City, and many loving nieces, nephews and
friends.
Jim worked for many
years as a mover at Callan and Woodworth Allied Van Lines.
He was a veteran
serving in the National Guard. He was truly an outdoor enthusiast who
enjoyed fishing, canoeing, and tent camping. He was a loving husband,
father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He had an amazing sense
of humor and would also bring a smile to whoever he met and talked to. He
will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
