Thomas E. Martin,
age 66 of Valparaiso, passed away on February 4, 2019, at his home.
He was born on
January 7, 1953, to John A. Martin and Mary Jane (Irish) Martin, both of
whom preceded him in death.
On August 24, 1974,

by his daughter, Jennifer Martin (Thomas Pullman); his siblings: Evelyn
Komenas, Greg (Chris) Martin, Steve (Beth) Martin, Bill (Terry) Martin, and
Patty (Carlos) Castillo; his nieces and nephews: John Komenas, Elizabeth
(Tyler) Albertson; Susan (Nick) Claywell, Adam Martin, Aaron (Libby) Martin,
Andrew Martin, Samantha Martin (Tommy Roberts), Tom (Jacqui) Shumate, Samuel
Dayton, and Michelle Dayton; by his sister-in-law, Adele Dayton; and by his
fur baby, Annie.
He is also preceded
in death by his sister, Katherine Anne Martin.
His love of history
inspired his love of travel. Tom and his family visited Egypt, Greece,
France, England and numerous historical U.S. sites. Tom loved researching
Civil War prisons and old blast furnaces, visiting them as often as
possible. He took great pride in working as a bricklayer for Local 6 for
over 40 years.
His care for family
was special. Tom leaves an example of how to live and love one another. He
was large in stature, had an equally large heart, and was always there to
