Services Friday for Mildred I. Spencer, 100

Mildred I. Spencer, age 100 of Burns Harbor, IN, passed away on February 9, 2019, at Rittenhouse Village in Portage, IN.

She was born on February 24, 1918, to Elmer and Osie Hostetler, both of whom preceded her in death.

She is survived by her grandchildren: Michelle (Glenn) Marvin of Oak Forest, IL, Michae (Jim Jernigan) Milligan of Cleburne, TX, Matthew (Jennifer) Milligan of Quincy, MI, and Sharon (Richard) Jackson of Cleveland, TN; her great-grandchildren: Jenna Marvin, Jason Marvin, Anna Grace Jackson, Spencer Jackson, and Lincoln Jackson; and by her niece, Jacki (Bob) Fryer.

She is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Edgar “Dwight” D. Spencer in 1982, her son, Donald Spencer in 2008, her daughter, Marcia Milligan in 2017, and by her brother, Orla Hostetler.

Mildred was a member of Porter United Methodist Church, where she served as the church organist for many years. She loved playing the piano at Rittenhouse and enjoyed playing the keyboard at the Dunes for their church services up until she was in her 90’s. She was also a “master pie maker” and enjoyed making snickerdoodles for everyone she loved.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019, at 1 p.m., at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S 2nd St., Chesterton, IN, with Pastor G. Thomas Jones and Pastor Liz Lahaie officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
