Jack Roger Smith II, age 80 of Porter, IN, passed away Monday, January 14, 2018.

He was born February 11, 1938, in Dayton, Ohio, to Jack R. and Florence (Subler) Smith.

Jack was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from NIPSCO after 37 years of service. His passion was collecting and building model cars. He was an avid hot rod enthusiast and member of the Early Iron Street Club. Jack loved and cared for all animals, but most of all he loved and cherished spending time with his grandchildren.

Jack is survived by his children, Colin (Michelle) Smith, Connie (Bara) Smith, and Wendy Haas; grandchildren, Cole and Madison; and good friends, Joe and Delores Knoth, Robert Ramos, Beverly Perkins-Long, John Whited, James Cunningham, and Dave Pellum.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation will take place at Angelcrest Crematory, Valparaiso, with private family services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
