Private services planned for John Roger Marshall, 93

John Roger Marshall, age 93 of Chesterton, IN, formerly of South Holland and Flossmoor, IL, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018.

He was born on October 13, 1924, in Chicago, IL, to Leonard W. and Mary L. (Brandenburg) Marshall.

John is survived by his son, John (Janet) Marshall of Chesterton, IN; daughter, Gail Sheetz of Ashville, NC; grandchildren, Kimberley, Mary and Michael Marshall and Scott, Meghan and Moira Sheetz; three great-grandchildren, Makayla, Layla and Skyla; and longtime friend, James Mooney.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanette (Wilson) Marshall, and son in law, Albert Sheetz.

John was a United States Navy veteran and served in World War II as a pilot on an aircraft carrier. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many hours working on small projects in his workshop. John retired as the superintendent of the Fire and Marine Division for USF&G Insurance and later became a police officer in South Holland, IL.

Private family services will be held in St. Germain, WI, at a later date.

Arrangements were handled by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304.
