Jerred Steven
Halsey, 34, passed away on June 7, 2017.
Jerred lived most
of his life in Chesterton and Michigan City, Indiana where he had many
friends.
Jerred struggled
with an opiate addiction and mental illness throughout his adult life.
Everyone that knew Jerred beneath his addiction knew of a loving and caring
person with a big heart. Jerred loved music, movies, cooking, and spending
time with his fiancŽ and her children.
Jerred is survived
by the love of his life, April Smith, and her children Aaron and Alyssa,
whom he loved as if they were his own. Jerred was proud of these children
and enjoyed every moment with them. Jerred and April had planned to get
married and move from the area to be a family.
Jerred is also
survived by his mother, Susan Grenzebach, adopted father Warren Halsey,
biological father Timothy Miller, and many other relatives that loved Jerred
and mourn his untimely passing.
Private memorials
will take place by the various people that loved Jerred. His mother requests
that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Jerred’s memory to the
Respite House (Valparaiso) or The Dune’s House (Michigan City) to help give
other struggling addicts a chance.
