Celebration of Life Sunday for William Nicholas Pope

On October 3, 2017, William Nicholas Pope, known to friends as “Bill”, passed away surrounded by his family after a brief and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 61.

Bill will be forever remembered by his loving mother, Dolores (Glaser) Pope; wife and best friend of 34 years, Lydia (Novacich) Pope; beloved daughters, Victoria Pope (Derek Piccola) and Gina (Dame) Tanaskoski; brothers and sisters, Deborah (Leon) Kummen, Suzanne (Steve) Paulich, Joseph (Marie) Pope, James (Fel) Pope and John Pope; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, William; and grandparents.

Originally from Chicago, Bill graduated from Mendel Catholic High School and spent much of his young adulthood traveling. After marrying the love of his life, Lydia, they settled in Farmington, New Mexico, where they had their two daughters before residing in Chesterton, IN. Bill retired from Boilermakers Local #374 after 33 years. He enjoyed building projects for his family and friends and took pride in the quality of his work. He loved fishing on Lake Michigan and enjoyed traveling with his family. Bill’s two daughters were his pride and joy and will forever be “Daddy’s Little Girls.”

There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering for family and friends on Sunday, November 12, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Spa Special Events Center, 333 North Mineral Springs Road, Porter, IN 46304.

Donations in memory of Bill may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
