Dililia I. Hemenway,
age 79, of Chesterton, IN, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016, in
Valparaiso, IN.
Dililia was born in
Vandalia, IL, on June 13, 1936, to Thomas and Golda (Rainey) Richey.
She is survived by
sons, Fred (Mary) Alumbaugh of Toccoa, GA, and Ray (Cindy) Alumbaugh of
Michigan City, IN; daughters, Jodi (Cornell) Smith of Hudson, FL, and Thelma
(Thomas) Scott of Chesterton, IN; son-in-law, John Buechner of Toms River,
NJ; sisters, Ruby Cushing of Rosamond, IL, and Daisy (Melvin) Rhodes of WV.
Dililia is also survived by numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in
death by her parents, Thomas and Golda Richey; first husband, Fred Alumbaugh
and husband, Frank Hemenway; daughter, Naomi Buechner; grandson, Michael
Scott; brothers, Charles and Marion Richey and sisters, Josephine Bryson and
Cecilbelle.
Dililia retired
from Continental Can in 1982, she then worked for several years at Parco
Cookie Factory in Michigan City, IN. She loved bird watching, feeding the
squirrels and she enjoyed drawing.
Funeral service
will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016, at 12:00 Noon, at Edmonds & Evans
Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN.
Visitation will be
held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m.
Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery, Chesterton, IN.
