Memorial gathering Sunday for Floyd 'Monty' Montgomery

Floyd W. Montgomery, Jr., better known as “Monty” died on November 28, 2016.

He was born May 12, 1927, to Floyd W. Montgomery Sr. and Gertrude (Anthony) Montgomery, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is also preceded by his siblings Marion Montgomery Hood, Madeline Montgomery, and Lloyd Montgomery.

He leaves behind several nieces and nephews, his devoted friend and aide Angel Marie Morgenstern, his loyal and dependable friends Don Pratt and Al Wagner, and all the guys from the McDonald's morning coffee get-together.

He served in the United States Navy, and was a long time friend and daily patron of the Westchester Public Library. He was a member of the American Legion Post 170. He graduated from Purdue University with a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked at NIPSCO for 28 years.

Monty was known and loved by many Chesterton residents and will be remembered for his easy, care-free style, his kindness, his bright smile and the stocking cap he always wore.

There will be a "Gathering of Friends" Memorial held Sunday, December 4, at the American Legion Post 170, at 798 Wabash, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Pie and coffee will be served.
