Virginia Fuller services Thursday

Virginia A. "Ginger" Fuller, age 81, of Michigan City, Ind., passed away Monday, September 9, 2013, at 2:29 p.m., at Hospice Franciscan Communities, Michigan City.

She was born May 18, 1932, in Champagne, Ill., to the late Tyree and Margaret Evelyn (Meen) Lavinder.

On June 16, 1951, in Chesterton, Ind., she married Gerald A. Fuller, who preceded her in April 1980.

Surviving are a daughter, Evelyn A. Fuller Richards of Wheatfield, Ind.; three sons, Gerard A. Fuller of Valparaiso, Ind., Howard A. (Jennifer) Fuller of Trail Creek, Ind., and Tyrone Fuller of Tampa, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and five sisters-in-law, Diane Hack, Ethel Carpenter, Louise Durflinger, Laurel Burns and Fern Winters.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Johnson.

She graduated as Salutatorian from Chesterton High School and attended Butler University and Purdue University North Central. She retired in 1999 as the accounting and credit manager of Fiberbond Corp.

Ginger was a member of Queen of All Saint's Catholic Church, where she served as Eucharistic minister, lector, commentator, sang in the Saturday, Sunday, and Resurrection Choirs and was a member of the Pastoral Council. She also was a member of the Little Portion Secular Franciscan Fraternity, Michigan City Senior Center, St. Anthony Guild, Red Hat Society, Institute of Management Accountants, National Association of Credit Managers and Women in Management. She volunteered at the Neighborhood Center, coached basketball and baseball and loved kids, friends, cats, dogs, laughing, reading, and music. Ginger had a wonderful sense of humor and was known as the "Queen of Jokes."

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Queen of All Saint's Catholic Church, 606 So. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, Ind., with the Rev. Kevin Huber and Rev. Mike Yadron officiating. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday, at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Ind. A wake service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral chapel.
