Russell Bailey dies at age 89

Russell W. Bailey of Fishers, Indiana, formerly of Chesterton, Ind., passed away on January 26, 2014, at the age of 89.

He was born on April 18, 1924, to John and Gertrude (Lubke) Bailey in Hobart, Ind.

He was preceded by his wife of 63 years, Nancy (Fisher) Bailey, on September 14, 2010.

He is survived by his four children, Nancy Paulk (Robert), Candace Aburdene (Odeh), Janice Ditto (David), and Russell Bailey (Arlene); grandchildren, Gregory Miller, Kathryn Knuckles, Gretchen Bracey, Lena Derhally, Felix Russell Aburdene, Audrey Bailey and six great-grandchildren.

Russell was a graduate of Emerson High School, Gary, Ind., and he proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He owned and operated Bailey's Interiors in Chesterton for over 40 years before retiring. Russell was a member of Chesterton United Methodist Church where he married his wife Nancy.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 30, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m., at Chesterton First United Methodist Church, 434 South Second St., Chesterton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Chesterton United Methodist Church.
