Kenneth Bullard dies at age 80

Kenneth “Poppy” Bullard, age 80, of Haughton, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Promise Hospital in Shreveport, La.

He was born on Thursday, May 11, 1933, in Avery, Texas.

He is survived by his two daughters, Kyna Lee (Bill Lee) of Haughton, La., and Dianna Bullard Gill of Chesterton, Ind.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Bullard; parents, Wiley and Maude Allred Bullard; three brothers and one sister.

Poppy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His love was not limited to his family but extended to many friends from Indiana to Louisiana. He lived for his family, strove for success and will be remembered for his warm smile and gentle ways.

Ken was a longtime resident of Portage, Ind., retiring in Zwolle, La., where he enjoyed retirement with his wife Ruby searching for the best fishing holes on Toledo Bend.

Ken was a retired ironworker who started in 1950 and retired in 1995 from Local #395. He followed in the footsteps of his brothers and was a leader and mentor to many. He was past Master from Calumet Masonic Lodge 379.

The family would like to thank their friends and family for love and support, as well as the staff of Promise Hospital in Bossier City, La.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014, beginning at 2:00 p.m., at Zwolle Cemetery in Zwolle, La., with Bro. David Free officiating.

Visitation will be on Saturday, March 1, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Zwolle, La.
