William 'Bill' Woodward dies at age 90

Dr. William Mackey (“Bill”) Woodward passed away on September 23, 2012, in Cartersville, Georgia, at the age of 90.

Dr. Woodward was a resident of Chesterton and Westville from 1966 until 2008.

Dr. Woodward was born October 17, 1921, and grew up in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

He was married to Doris Catherine Beach for 38 years until her death in 1990.

Later he married Bette Prange of Chesterton, who also predeceased him.

He is survived by his three children: Mark Woodward, of Cartersville, Georgia, Catherine Woodward McMillin of Easton, Kansas, and Brian Woodward, of Brentwood, Tenn., six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He graduated from Swarthmore College and Jefferson Medical School. He served as a captain in the US Army and was stationed in Hawaii and Guadalcanal. He specialized in internal medicine and spent most of his career with U.S. Steel.

The visitation and funeral will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home in Michigan City.
