Michael Krantz dies at age 47

Michael A. Krantz, age 47 of Porter, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Northwestern Hospital, Chicago, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Michael was born on September 11, 1964 to James and Marge Nehring-Krantz, both of whom survive in Merrillville.

On August 25, 1990, in Valparaiso, he married Wendy Troxel-Krantz, who survives in Porter.

Also surviving are his children Logan, Connor and Jeremy Krantz, all of Porter; siblings Larry (Michele) Krantz of South Haven, Bob (Colleen) Krantz of Valparaiso, Sharon (John) Malone of Lakes of the Four Seasons, Sue (Lou) Rosenwinkel of Merrillville; his mother and father-in-law, Jerry and Judy Troxel of Porter; sister-in-law, Stacy (Fred) Martinez, of Bartlett, Ill., and Jeff Troxel of Chesterton, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Michael was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was a member of the Chicago Painters and Decorators Union, Local 830. He was very artistic, an avid fisherman and a #1 fan of all of his son’s activities. He loved traveling and spending time with his family. He was a loving father and wonderful husband, son and brother.

A memorial celebration of Michael’s life will take place on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 10 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton, Ind.

A service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tony Goin officiating.

A memorial Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 North Calumet Road, Chesterton with Father James Meade officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Mike’s boys to help with their college funds.
