Louis 'Bruce' Gonzalez dies at age 61

Louis “Bruce” Gonzalez, 61 of Porter, Indiana, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Northwestern Hospital, Chicago.

He was born May 7, 1950 in Chicago to Louis P. Gonzalez and Irene Smolinski Gonzalez Wozniak, both of whom preceded him in death.

On June 6, 2006 in the Philippines he married Nori “Ning” Gonzelgo Gonzalez who survives in Porter.

Bruce is also survived by his siblings Paulette (William) Jackson of Porter, Deborah (Rick) Holsapple of Marion, Kentucky and Cynthia (Mark Goodall) Spann of Chesterton; nephew Billy (Susan) Jackson of Porter, nieces Michelle (Jim) Hunsley of Chesterton, Star (Josh) Manhs of Marion, Kentucky and Julia Spann of Chesterton, Star and Julia were also his Goddaughters.

Also surviving are great-nephews Christopher Jackson, Jacob and Caleb Manhs and close friends Randy Wayne and Jack Schumann.

He was preceded in death by his nephew Bobby Jackson and niece Melissa Holsapple.

Bruce was an electrical engineer at LTV Steel for 30 years. He was an avid musician playing the guitar, collector of die cast cars, a woodworker and a Chicago Bears fan. He was past owner of Magic Sound Productions.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet, Chesterton with Father James Meade officiating.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 1, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 that evening at the funeral home.
