Barbara J. Paulson, age 73, of Miller, formerly of Chesterton, Indiana, passed away, October 28, 2011 at home after a three-year bout with cancer.

Barbara was born July 3, 1938 in Hammond, Ind. Her father and mother, John J. Egielski and Stella (Gajwski) Egielski, and brother John Jr., preceded her in death.

On February 2, 1956 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Otis, Indiana she married Paul E. (Gene) Paulson, who survives.

Also surviving are her sons Philip and Jeffrey (Karen) Paulson and grandchildren Philip, Rebecca, Jennifer and Emma, all of Portage.

She was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Church in Miller, where she spent 20 years working in the office and six years in the school library.

She was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, and particularly cherished their annual trip to Hawaii. Barbara also enjoyed cooking and baking for the family and that was greatly appreciated.

The family will receive friends at White-Love Funeral Home. 525 S. Second St. Chesterton, Ind., on Wednesday, November 2, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m.

Rev. Thomas Mischler will officiate the burial mass at St. Mary of the Lake Church, 6060 Miller Ave., Gary, Ind., on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 11:00 a.m., following visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Church Cemetery in Otis, Ind., just south of Michigan City.
