Service set for Genevieve Francis Brueckheimer

Chesterton resident Genevieve Francis (Pluta) Brueckheimer passed away Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 82.

She was born in Michigan City on Jan. 29, 1928, the daughter of Ignatius and Agatha Pluta, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded by five brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by daughters Connie Ellefson (husband Tom), Brenda Brueckheimer and Bobbie Bower (Tim), all of Chesterton; sons Terry (Lupe) of Chesterton and Craig Brueckheimer of Hohenwald, Tenn.; sister Antionette Yagelski (Stan) Yagelski of Chesterton; and brother Steve Pluta (Judy) of Chesterton.

She loved her 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. In her younger years, Jean was an avid bowler and worked as a seamstress at R-Kay Garment in Chesterton. She also sewed wedding and bridal wear and adult Halloween costumes. Her best love was her time spent cooking in local restaurants and her family meals. One never left her home hungry. Her homemade pies and cookies were a treat for all. In her most recent years she enjoyed playing dice and pinochle. She maintained a huge garden and would can almost everything she could get her hands on. She was a member of the American Legion, VFW and St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was also a cancer survivor and participated in the local Relay for Life events. She will be greatly missed by her entire family.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 11 a.m. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton with Father Terry Bennis officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at
