Services set for Nellie Westplate

Nellie M. Westplate, the mother of a Porter resident, died Monday, November 30, 2009 at Kenosha Hospital. A resident of Kenosha, Wis., she was 86.

She was born April 4, 1923, in Kenosha, the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Buteyn) Kloet, who preceded her in death. She was educated in the schools of Kenosha.

On June 4, 1943, she married Adrian “Ed” Westplate in Kenosha, who on Feb. 29, 2008, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Lorin (Denice) Westplate of Alexander City, Ala., and Wayne Westplate of Maui, Hawaii; a daughter, Miriam (Ken) Christensen of Porter; brothers John (Phyllis) Kloet and Marinus (Thelma) Kloet, both of Kenosha, and Chester (Pat) Kloet of Zion, Ill.; a brother-in-law, John (Betty) Westplate of Kenosha; grandchildren Jonathan (Julie) Christensen, Alisa Christensen, and Matthew Christensen; her special friend, Sharon Busch; and many nieces and nephews.

Nellie was a member of the Kenosha Christian Reformed Church. She taught Sunday school and Bible School and sang in the choir. Nellie enjoyed, helping her husband with projects, embroidery, gardening, ice-skating, roller skating, and baking for her grandkids.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at Kenosha Christian Reformed Church, 7506 25th Ave. in Kenosha. Interment will follow at Green Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at the Bruch Funeral Home, 3503 Roosevelt Road in Kenosha, and from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at the church.
