Sandra F. Pikula dies at 56

Sandra F. Pikula, of Chesterton, passed away on Thursday January 31, 2008 at Methodist Hospital, Merrillville. She was 56.

Sandra was born in East Chicago, Ind. on Dec. 14, 1951 the daughter of James Franklin Nix and Martha (Hayes) Hernandez, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was married to Ronald Pikula who survives in Chesterton.

She is also survived by sons; Christopher (Kerry) Pikula of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Bradley (Amber Habela) Pikula of South Haven; a daughter Brittany (Fiancee Andrew Castner) Pikula of Indianapolis; brothers, Donnie Nix of Cedar Lake, and Dwayne (Maureen) Hernandez of Hebron; sisters; Jimmie Sue (Gerald) Farmer of Crown Point, Diane Schwartz of Portage, Darlene (Al) Carter of Toledo, Ill., Teresa (Joe) Juarez of Chesterton; stepfather, Alfredo Hernandez of Lowell and Grandchildren, Maddox, Joseph and Bailey.

Sandra enjoyed playing and spending time with her grandchildren and taking drives through the dunes, she was a tech assistant at Methodist Hospital and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

A Funeral mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Road, Chesterton. Cremation will follow the mass.

A visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, with a wake service at 2 p.m.
