Laura O. McClure dies at 92

Laura O. McClure, 92, of La Porte, died at 9:30 a.m., on October 9, 2008 at her residence.

She was born September 9, 1916 in Chicago, the daughter of Ferdinand and Hermine (Balley) Koch, both of whom preceded her in death.

On February 1, 1941 in Chicago, she married Eugene V. McClure who preceded her on May 30, 2000.

She leaves behind four daughters, Laura Jean (Dave) Kadelak of Merrillville, Louise McClure of LaPorte, Mary Margaret (Jack) Greeley of Windermere, Fla. and Joanne (Jay) Perri of LaPorte; three sons, Michael (Carol) McClure of Orange, Conn., James McClure of LaPorte, and Thomas (Cynthia) McClure of LaPorte; 15 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.

She was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church, La Porte. She was a Medical Technologist at St. Mary's Hospital in Gary and later a homemaker and she retired from Hageman Library in Porter. She was a member of the Pine Lake Grange, received her bachelor degree in 1938 from the College of St. Teresa, Winona, Minn. She was a member of the St. Peter Rosary Society/Our Lady of Snows Circle, a member of Indiana Christmas Tree Growers Association and raised grapes for Welches Grape Co-op in LaPorte County with her husband.

A funeral mass, Rev. Joseph Angotti officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, October 13, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Interment will be at Pine Lake Cemetery, Monday, following the service.

A Rosary Service will be held Sunday, Oct. 12, at 3 p.m.., with Rev. Joseph Angotti officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 12, from 3-6 p.m.. and Mon. 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte.

Arrangements are being handled by Essling Funeral Home.
