Clarence F. Guy Hokanson dies at 85

Clarence F. “Guy” Hokanson, of Chesterton, passed away Tuesday evening, December 16, 2008 at home. He was 85.

He was born December 4, 1923 in Porter, the son of Victor and Anna (Lindblade) Hokanson.

On October 7, 1956 in Crown Point, he married Noreen C. Kaldahl, who survives.

He is also survived by three sons, Pete (Carol) Hokanson, of Camby, Jeff (Suellen) Hokanson, of Indianapolis and Charles (Angela) Hokanson, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; six grandchildren, Alex, Kaylin, Sarah, Miles, Elizabeth and Andrew Jacob (A.J.); two sisters, Ruth Gawley, of Keystone Heights, Fla. and Virginia Green, of Valparaiso.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Edith Bonandar and four brothers, Alvin, Arthur, Maynard and Virgil Hokanson.

Guy was a member of 1st United Methodist Church of Chesterton and a Charter Member of Sons of Norway. He was a long time volunteer member of Porter Fire Department. He was a graduate of Chesterton High School and Purdue University where he was a member of the AGR fraternity. He was a buyer at Midwest Steel Co. with 23 years of service.

Funeral services, Pastor Christine Newman-Jacobs officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. Interment will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19 at White-Love Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to Porter Fire Department, 500 W. Beam St., Porter, IN 46304.
