Bernard M. Slicker, age 86 of Hobart passed away Saturday, October 11, 2008
at the Rensselaer Care Center.
He was born December 27, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of the late William
and Lela Slicker.
He is survived by four daughters, Jeanette (Karl) Friedman of Cary, Ill.;
Lela (Greg) Schmidt of Chesterton; Helen (Dave) Lawson of Hobart; Sheilah
(Mark) Watts of Elkhart; four sons, Alan (Kathy) Slicker of Hobart, Bill
(Pam) Slicker of Hebron; Scott Slicker of Hobart, Rich (Cary) Slicker of
Hobart; 21 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce A. Slicker, three daughters, Mary
Lou, Virginia Sue and Pat, three brothers, Eugene and Donald Slicker and
Wilbert Whisner, and one sister, Evelyn Slicker.
He was a longtime Hobart resident and was formerly of Pensylvania. He served
his country in WWII in the U.S. Army. Bernard retired from Midwest Steel in
1984 and enjoyed spending his retirement with his family.
Funeral services, Pastor Allen Wright officiating, are Wednesday, October 15,
at 10 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Interment
will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Hobart.
Visitation is Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Rees Funeral
