Stephen Woodruff dies at 56

Stephen E. Woodruff, of Porter/Michigan City, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007. He was 56.

He was born March 3, 1951 in Valparaiso the son of Gayle (Gunnerson) and George E. Woodruff, Jr., both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his brother, David Woodruff and a nephew, Aldones Woodruff, of Spring Valley, Calif.; an uncle, Ken (Barbara) Woodruff of Valparaiso; aunts, Eleanor (late Charles) Boswell, Fla. and Cherry (Randy) Williams, of Ohio and 12 cousins.

Steve was a graduate of Chesterton High School and Indiana University. He taught for Portage Adult Education both at the Learning Center in Knox and at the Adult High School in Portage where he taught English. His students and colleagues were a most important and happy part of his life as well as his many life-long friends..

A memorial service, Pastor Erik Bernth officiating, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. Second St., Chesterton. Friends are invited to meet one hour before the service (3-4 p.m.)

Memorial donations may be made in Steve’s memory to Portage Adult Education, 5391 Central Ave., Portage, IN 46368.
