Richard Irving Markwart, Jr. dies at 30

Richard Irving Markwart, Jr., 30, formerly of Chesterton and Valparaiso died suddenly in his home in Brooklyn, N.Y. on December 10, 2007.

He is survived by his parents, Kathleen and Richard Markwart of Valparaiso; a brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Krystal Markwart; nephew, Ethan Markwart and niece, Katerina Markwart of Indianapolis; maternal grandmother, Margaret Condon and many, many friends and extended family members.

He will be especially missed by his close friends Sara Haskins and Zack Sykes. Richard was a 1995 graduate of Chesterton High School. As a member of the Chesterton Speech and Debate team, he twice represented the school in national competition. He was a member of the National Honor Society and received the Chesterton High School Academic Honors award. He was a 1999 graduate of the School of Computer Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University. He served as Assistant Vice President, Programmer Analyst for Knight Capital Markets, LLC in Jersey City, New Jersey.

A visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 15 from noon until 2 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso with a memorial service beginning at 2 p.m.
