Jack E. Wright, of LaPorte, passed away at 6:55 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2007 at
LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte. He was 81.
He was born June 9, 1925 in Ft. Wayne, the son of Dean M. and Vera A. (May)
Wright and was raised by his grandparents, Ozro and Effie Wright.
On Aug. 24, 1947 in Shelburn, Ind. he was married to Rosalie Noel, who
survives.
He is also survived by a daughter, Joyce A. (James) Madison of LaPorte; three
sons, Dean A. (Linda) Wright of LaPorte, Steven D. Wright of San Pierre and
Randy (Sue) Wright of Springboro, Ohio and eight grandchildren, Susan
Birkeland, Scott, Mike, Jason, Stephanie, Alec, Andrew and Kristin Wright.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Wright.
Jack was employed for 38 years in teaching and school counseling - 28 in
Duneland Schools and 10 in La Porte School Corporation. He also was a
professional musician for 50 years playing string instruments.
He held both B.S. and M.S. degrees from Indiana State University and attended
Kingsford Heights Wesleyan Church. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII,
receiving a Bronze Star with the Army Engineers in the South Pacific. He was
a member of the Indiana State Teachers Assoc., was a life member of American
Federation of Musicians Local 421 and was an avid LaPorte Slicer Fan.
Funeral services, Pastor Fred Mitchell officiating, will be at 11 a.m.
Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Cutler Funeral Home. Interment with Full Military
Rites will be at Kingsbury Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Monday and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Cutler
Funeral Home, 2900 Monroe St., LaPorte.
