Harold W. Widdel dies at 73

Harold W. Widdel, of Valparaiso, passed away Friday, July 27, 2007 at Regency Hospital in Portage. He was 73.

He was born July 24, 1934 in Lansing, Ill., the son of Reinhold and Frieda (Voss) Widdel, both of whom preceded him in death.

On. Sept.. 7, 1974 he married Pamela Pagels, who survives in Valparaiso.

He is also survived by two brothers, Marvin (Lois) Widdel of Perrysburg, Ohio and Charles (Janet) Widdel of Varna, Ill.; four nephews, James and Ken Widdel and David and Dan Widdel; two sisters-in-law, Anita (Don) Noldin of Kenosha, Wis. and Donna Pagels of Kenosha, Wis.

Harold was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Chesterton. He attended St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran School and was a former member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lansing, Ill. He was a member of the Lion’s Club of Lansing and was a self-employed building contractor, specializing in custom home building. He was a member of Homebuilders Association of Northwest Indiana and served as President in 1989. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

Funeral services, Rev. Erich Fickel officiating, will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 106 E. County Rd, 1100E, Chesterton. Cremation will follow at Calvary Crematory, Portage.

The family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Chesterton.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran church, or to VNA of Porter County.
