Calvin Clifford Peek dies at 67

Calvin Clifford Peek, of Fort Meade, Fla., formerly of Jackson Twp., passed away Sunday, March 25, 2007 at his residence in Fort Meade. He was 67.

He was born Nov. 23, 1939 in Michigan City.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Peek of Fort Mead, Fla.

He is also survived by a daughter, Robin (Bryan) Seibel of Winter Haven, Fla.; a son David (Sherri) Peek of Lakeland, Fla. and a sister, Phyllis (Bill) Bakeis of Zionsville, Ind.; three grandchildren, Brianna and J.R. Brown of Deltona, Fla., Christy Tesner of Lakeland, and Korey Seibel of Winter Haven and three great-grandchildren, Christian, Joyce and Katelyn Brown of Deltona, Fla.

Calvin and Linda moved to Fort Meade in 2004. He was a member and valued friend to the class of 1958 of Jackson High School. He worked for U.S. Steel for 31 years and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bartow. He also worked for the Valparaiso Community School in Indiana for 13 years and served on the Town Board in Burns Harbor for six years. He was a member of 4H Horse and Pony Club, and was a very talented wood craftsman who loved to make furniture for his family. He loved watching his son, Dave, drag race; spending time with his granddaughter, Brianna; fishing with his grandson, Korey and working on projects with his granddaughter and grandson Christy and Korey.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 21 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 5402 U.S. Hwy. 6, Portage.
