Kids, have you ever
wondered what the inside of an ambulance looks like? Want to test your aim
with a real live fire hose? Does dunking a police officer into cold water
sound like a fun thing to do on a Friday night?
If yes is the
answer to any of these questions, then join in at the 8th annual Summer
Safety Fest this Friday, June 7, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at Porter's Hawthorne
Park, 500 Ackerman Drive.
This free event is
designed for all ages, and will feature interactive activities and
demonstrations led by Porter Police, Porter Fire Search & Rescue, Burns
Harbor Fire Department, Kankakee Valley REMC and several other area law
enforcement and emergency agencies. Enjoy K9 demonstrations, watch a 'jaws
of life' car extrication and learn about boating safety from the Coast Guard
Auxiliary.
Now in its eighth
year, Summer Safety Fest continues to grow with new scheduled activities and
partners including a helicopter landing in the park! Activities and
informational booths will include tours of ambulances and emergency response
vehicles, free face painting, an electrical safety demonstration trailer,
and more.
Dinner or snacks
can be purchased on-site from one of the food vendors.
