Seven Peaks back on Porter BZA agenda

Back To Front Page

The Town of Porter Board of Zoning Appeals will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. for its regular meeting, which will include a discussion with Seven Peaks operations manager Scott Brinton regarding amended commitments.

The water park agreed at the May meeting to move the entranceway north so the line for patrons would be less likely to back up onto Waverly Road, install drainage controls on the north end of the parking area and have a stormwater pollution prevention plan submitted to the state by June 6 when the park opened.

The BZA also agreed to change the dates by which the parking lot must be paved and landscaped. Half is to be done by October 2016 and the other half after the park’s 2017 season.

The board will review the variance findings. Brinton had told the Chesterton Tribune right before the park opened that the entrance changes would be finished by the June 6 deadline, but drainage plans would not be ready for a couple weeks yet, as they are in the midst of being prepared by an engineer.

In new business, the BZA will hold two preliminary hearings.

Joel Pisowicz, on behalf of Donald and Karen Pisowicz, requests to build an accessory structure prior to a primary structure at 85 Ed McDashowicz Drive.

Olivia Tschewik requests a variance for a rear yard setback for a screened-in porch at 142 Hjelm Road.

Also on the agenda is an update from BZA attorney Laura Frost and comments from board members.
