The Porter Redevelopment Commission isn’t quite ready to approve a trails maintenance agreement with the Park Board.

At the commission’s meeting Tuesday night, members voted 5-0 to table the agreement and instruct their attorney to revise the document to clarify the meaning of “general maintenance”: specifically, general maintenance is meant to include the removal of snow and ice from all paved portions of the trails under the commission’s jurisdiction.

The attorney will then submit the revised document to the Park Board for its approval.

Bid Accepted

In other business, members voted 5-0 to accept Gariup Construction’s low bid of $229,400 for a Calumet Trail spur.

That project is being funded with moneys made available through the Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority.

Bids Rejected

Meanwhile, members voted 5-0 to reject all bids for the Triangle lift station project, after the scope of the project was “revised quite a bit downward.”

That project will be re-bid under the revised specs.

Change Order

In addition, members voted 5-0 to approve Change Order No. 2 for the Porter Ave. lift station project.

That change order—amounting to an increase of around $10,000—is for the installation of a lateral sewer hookup to the concession stand at the park.

The project as a whole remains, at the moment, under budget.
