The Porter Redevelopment Commission isn’t quite ready to approve a trails
maintenance agreement with the Park Board.
At the commission’s meeting Tuesday night, members voted 5-0 to table the
agreement and instruct their attorney to revise the document to clarify the
meaning of “general maintenance”: specifically, general maintenance is meant
to include the removal of snow and ice from all paved portions of the trails
under the commission’s jurisdiction.

In other business, members voted 5-0 to accept Gariup Construction’s low bid
of $229,400 for a Calumet Trail spur.
That project is being funded with moneys made available through the
Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority.
Meanwhile, members voted 5-0 to reject all bids for the Triangle lift
station project, after the scope of the project was “revised quite a bit

In addition, members voted 5-0 to approve Change Order No. 2 for the Porter
Ave. lift station project.
That change order—amounting to an increase of around $10,000—is for the
installation of a lateral sewer hookup to the concession stand at the park.
The project as a whole remains, at the moment, under budget.
