The Town Council of Dune Acres adopted the newly codified Municipal Code at
their meeting Tuesday.
Council members voted to suspend the rules and adopt the new code on the
same night as the first reading. The votes were unanimously in favor of the
suspension of the rules and for the adoption of the new municipal code. A
few minor changes were made prior to adoption.
The council also adopted a resolution establishing a Construction Security
Deposit Fund.
A CD of the town’s website, as well as a video on the history of the town
are to be included in the Porter County Convention Recreation and Visitors
Bureau’s ‘time capsule,’ which will be placed during the PCCRVC’s ceremony
opening the new visitors center on Rt. 20. Residents with ideas of other
things to be included should contact a town council member.
Listing of the town’s clubhouse on the National Register of Historic Places
is anticipated. The announcement could come early in 2007.
If that designation is successful, the town will seek a $50,000 grant to
help in the renovation of the building.
Tuesday, town engineer Irving Call was given authorization to replace a door
in the building and to begin weatherization of the structure.
A building permit, previously approved by the Plan Commission, was approved
by the town council for Krug Remodeling, for work at 6 Shore Drive.
The council is expected to discuss establishing a Rainy Day Fund at their
December meeting.
