Summer program a success, Park Board told

The Chesterton Park Board met this morning and heard from board member Mark Dickinson that the summer park program for children was a success and will conclude today with a weenie roast and a visit from the fire department.

Chesterton Park Superintendent, Bruce Mathias, reported that the shelters in Dogwood Park are currently being worked on and most have been re-stained. Other renovations to the park include the paving of the east parking lot.

Rehab of the wooden bridges has been completed along the Prairie-Duneland Trail, Mathias said. The project to remove branches and other limbs that hang down on the trail continues.

The board accepted a donation of $135 from the Duneland Business Initiate Group generated through Bark in the Park. The Board will send a thank you to Sharon Millet.
