The Chesterton Advisory Plan Commission will conduct a public hearing
tonight on general development guidelines only for the proposed 81-acre
Alliance Business Center at the southwest corner of Indiana 49 and County
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at the town hall.
The commissionís hearing will be on a planned-unit-development ordinance
that sets out in broad terms the conditions that would govern site
development on the parcel. The commission will forward a recommendation to
the Town Council for final action on the PUD.
Once approved, the project will return to the commission for platting, at
which time the actual business center layout and design will be determined.
A spokesman for the projectís investors said they are working on finding
tenants for the light industrial/commercial park, which tentatively may
include retail and a condominium component.
Also listed on tonightís agenda is discussion regarding updated signage
rules and business uses in the Business-1 and 2 zones, although the matter
repeatedly has been postponed previously.
