The Burns Harbor Town Council will convene two special meetings Friday, and
the Redevelopment Commission will meet Monday.
The announced purpose of Friday’s public council session is to discuss the
former Westport Community Club property utilities; the club disbanded
earlier this year and the town accepted the donation of the clubhouse and
The special meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. or immediately following a
previous closed executive session called for 8 a.m., both at the town hall.
The council will conduct its closed session to discuss the purchase or lease
of real property by the governing board up to the time a contract or option
to purchase or lease is executed by the parties.
Chesterton Pop Warner football has expressed an interest in making Westport
its permanent home and developing football facilities at the Indiana 149/Haglund
Road site. Pop Warner officers have been negotiating with a council
representative about tentative terms of a lease.
Monday the town’s Redevelopment Commission will meet for the first time this
year at 7 p.m. at the town hall. Town Council members also sit as the RDC.
