community engagement has been the overall goal for the Town of Burns Harbor
and the development of the Food Truck Square.
To commemorate the
town’s 50th anniversary this September, Burns Harbor has recently expanded
the Food Truck Square to include themed Wednesday events (along with free
themed family entertainment, free admission, bounce houses, food trucks and
live music) and some themed Saturday events too.
The Food Truck
Square runs each Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. located at 1237 Westport Rd. --
at the corner of Haglund and Westport roads, just off of Ind.149.
evening, attendees can expect a variety of two to three food trucks to
choose from offering different cuisines and at least two food trucks
offering a variety of sweet treats. Each event varies and can provide
attendees with anything from craft vendors to classic cars, graffiti art to
free face painting, cocktails and more.
Recently the Arts
on the Square event held July 19 featured local graffiti artist Cas Perez,
whom created a masterpiece with attendees using spray paint. The
spray-painted canvases now serve as gateway signage near the Food Truck
Square. The event also featured a variety of the region’s most popular craft
vendors and live music by Johnny V.
Classic cars also
recently lined the square during the recent Better Burn Harbor: Cars Night
Out. This highly attended event was sponsored by local dealerships,
including Lake Shore Motors and Bosak Chevrolet of Burns Harbor. The event
was also captured by drone videographer Brandon Clair of Timeless Aerial
The Food Truck
Square will continue to provide attendees with a variety of Northwest
Indiana’s most popular food trucks throughout the summer season and into the
fall, including: The Rolling Stone Breaker, King of The Road, Bills Grill,
Sizzlebox, Redemak’s, Dogs and Hogs, Lulu’s Licks, Jodis Italian Ice, Chunky
