The Chesterton softball team seemed to right the ship on Thursday in a 10-0
victory at Lowell.
The Trojans pounded out 15 hits and scored runs in five different innings as
they improved to 18-3 overall on the season.
Shelby Carter and Megan Matheny scored to start the game on a Megan Tymorek
double in the first.
Matheny and Amanda Dujmovich singled and scored on a Jill Bohnert three-run
home run in the third.
“The girls all hit the ball hard tonight,”
Chesterton coach LouAnn Hopson said. “Yes,
we had a couple homeruns, but we had people making very good contact.
"Amanda had three real nice shots.”
Three more runs in the fourth inning started when Carter scored as Sydney
Cooley reached on an error. Matheny got on via a fielder’s choice and scored
on Dujmovich’s single. Cooley scored on Bohnert’s single for an 8-0 lead.
The offensive barrage continued into the fifth inning as Alexa Olson walked
and scored on Sarah Richards’ double. Cooley’s home run in the seventh set
the final score.
Cooley cruised through the first four innings in the circle for the Trojans
without allowing a hit.
She only faced 26 hitters en route to the victory that included five

Chesterton 10, Lowell 3
The Chesterton junior varsity beat Lowell 10-3 on Thursday behind seven
innings of work from Lia Lombardini (2 strikeouts).
Shelby Price had three infield singles to lead the offense, while Jordan
Wadding added two singles and an inside-the-park home run.
The junior varsity is now 14-3 on the year.
