The Chesterton girls soccer team secured a share of the Duneland Athletic Conference regular season title with an 8-1 victory at LaPorte on Tuesday.

“This was a game like no other on the night with the DAC co-championship on the line,” Chesterton coach Ben Forgey said. “We came out like we should. From the first kick, we dominated the game.”

Goal scorers for the Trojans included Gina Geenen (3 goals), Addy Joiner (3 goals), Annalisa Hackett (1 goal) and Grace Bamber (1 goal).

“We scored goals from all different directions and really showed more of what we're capable of,” Forgey said. “All over the field we were very good. It was just a good all-around effort.”

Hackett (2), Bamber, Sydney Stott (2), Ashlee Bakaitis and Caroline Liapes all dished out assists.

“We were pretty pleased with a 7-1 halftime lead,” Forgey said. “In the second half, we tried to keep the ball a bit more. It's something we want to get better at. It's not easy, but the girls embraced it.”

The Trojans wrap up the regular season on Thursday with Senior Night against Griffith. The JV game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
