Chesterton’s Elizabeth Shinn advanced in the IHSAA Girls Individual Tennis State Tournament with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Portage’s Carly Bermes on Tuesday at Portage.

“Elizabeth played well and served extremely well tonight,” Chesterton coach Gretchen Shinn said. “Despite the late start due to rain, Elizabeth kept her focus.”

Shinn will face an opponent from Gary West Side tonight at 4 p.m. with the winner facing LaPorte’s Rachel Baremie on Thursday night at 4 p.m.
