The St. Patrick Home & School Association will host the 13th annual Runnin’
with the Irish half-mile family fun run, 5K Run and non-competitive 5K walk
on Saturday, March 16.
The race will take place at the Campground Shelter in the Indiana Dunes
State Park (Chesterton).
Registration will open at 7 a.m. with the family run beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The 5K race begins at 9 a.m. and the walk at 9:01 a.m. Participants are
asked to carpool because parking is limited.
The newly revised course is a Calumet Region Striders Gold Cup and Extra
Mile Championships Racing Series race and is planned as a fun event for all
ages.
Awards will be presented to the overall male and female runners, top masters
(age 40+) male and female runners and the top three runners in 13 different
age groups. The top six places in the youngest four age groups receive
medals.
Bagpipes will provide musical entertainment in the spirit of St. Patrick’s
Day.
Post-race refreshments include homemade corned beef and cabbage, fruit,
bagels and home-baked treats provided to St. Pat’s families. Starbucks
coffee and hot chocolate will again be provided in the warming station.
Entry fees are $10 for the half-mile family fun run, while the 5K run and
walk is $16 for students (ages 5-14) and $21 for adults if pre-registered
before March 2.
A long-sleeved t-shirt will be provided to all preregistered runners and to
race-day entrants while supplies last.
