The Chesterton girls swim team turned in a dominating performance and picked up a 108-78 non-conference victory over No. 10 Munster Thursday night.

“We swam great tonight,” Chesterton coach Kevin Kinel said. “We always look forward to swimming at Munster. It’s a great turnout of fans and its a crazy atmosphere.”

And it was from the time the No. 3 Trojans stepped on deck to a chorus of boos from a loud Munster student section.

“Our girls were very focused coming in here,” Kinel said. “I think that was big for us.”

The Trojans sent a message early by winning three of the meet’s first four events. The 200 Medley Relay quartet of Brittany Fozkos, Olivia Kabacinski, Meaghan McLaughlin and Shauna Foor won in 1:48.88.

Kabacinski followed that with a victory in the 200 IM (2:08.16) and Fozkos won the 50 Free (24.41).

“Olivia swam great again tonight,” Kinel said. “And Brittany had a couple of really nice swims.”

After the SeaHorses sandwiched victories in Diving and the 100 Free around McLaughlin’s win in the 100 Fly, the Trojans took total control of the meet.

The Chesterton trio of Julia Campbell (5:14.39), Kate Curley and Jessica Campbell went 1-2-3 in the 500 Free. The 200 Free Relay of Lauren Foor, Shauna Foor, Milana Socha and Kabacinski followed that with a pool record (1:38.02).

“We had a lot of kids that just swam great,” Kinel said. “Meghan, Milana, Julia and Jessica Campbell were all on their best times or better. Kate Curley had two lifetime best swims.”

The Trojans slammed the door with Kabacinski winning in the 100 Breast and the 400 Free Relay of Socha, Julia Campbell, Maddie Miller and Fozkos winning in 3:38.61.

“We had a lot of good stuff happen tonight,” Kinel said.
