Another pitchers dual? Another offensive struggle? You choose.
The Chesterton baseball team managed just five hits and only got one runner
into scoring position in a 2-0 Duneland Athletic Conference loss to Lake
Central Wednesday night.
LC’s Brandon Cloutier started the scoring with a leadoff home run in the
second inning. The insurance run came in the fifth after back-to-back hits
from Austen Wagoner and Chase Fieldhouse.
The Trojans lone offensive threat came in the fifth inning after Alex Olson
led off the frame with a single to centerfield. JR Frederick’s two-out
single moved Olson to third, but a fielder’s choice on a one-hop rocker off
the bat of Nate Majcher ended the frame.
Chesterton’s Bobby Humphreys, the hard-luck loser, pitched well enough to
win after scattering five hits and striking out one.
