Hamady 9th in US in MLB competition

Chestertonís Madeline Hamady entered MLBís Pitch, Hit, and Run competition earlier this summer and finished ninth overall of more than 75,000 participants in her division.

This year there were over 4,000 local competitions with over 600,000 participants. At the local competition in Chesterton, she advanced as Hitting Champion, Running Champion and All-Around Champion.

Hamady then advanced and competed at the Sectional level at the Steel Yard, home of the Gary South Shore Railcats and advanced as All-Around Champion.

She was among the three highest scoring champions from the Chicago White Sox region and was selected to compete in the Team Championship at U.S. Cellular Field, home of the Chicago White Sox.

Hamady emerged as Team Champion and was among 30 Finalists from which the top three were selected to compete in New York during MLB's All-Star Break.
